St. Brendan’s Double Glazing Project Work will begin on Monday to replace the windows in the Church. It is estimated that the project will take two to three weeks to complete. Thank you for your unwavering support of St. Brendan’s.
Our Lady’s High Subject Choice Interviews for 5th & 6th Year Pupils On Friday 6th August (9.00am - 12 noon) subject choice interviews will be held for those intending to return for 5th or 6th year in 2010/2011 and need to change a subject NOT a level. It is assumed that those who do not attend interview will be making no changes to subject/courses that were chosen in June.

After seeing the front page of this week’s Scottish Catholic Observer and having spoken to Father Paul Conroy, it was felt best that I clarify some things for you. I do this in advance of you receiving the full details from us (which you should have by the beginning of next week). As we print the various letters informing you of the arrangements for the Papal Mass in Bellahouston Park it has been suggested that there is a difference between Scotland and England in the process to cover costs associated with transport etc. Considering that the arrangements for covering transport costs and materials for pilgrims are exactly the same in both Scotland and in England, the suggestion that pilgrims are paying for Mass in England is inaccurate.
As you were informed by Bishop Tartaglia some weeks ago, the plans are for transport costs to be shared over the entire country so as to exercise a degree of solidarity for those travelling furthest. In addition there will be a Pilgrim Pack for everyone attending which will include various items to assist the pilgrims including a CD and a liturgy book which will cover the entire visit by His Holiness, including the events in England. We therefore suggest a donation equivalent to £20 per pilgrim for everyone attending Bellahouston. For this same reason of solidarity, Pilgrims who want to travel from Scotland to e.g. Birmingham will be requested to make the same donation as someone living in Birmingham i.e. £25.
How the parish decides to deal with this will be left to your discretion. This, again, is exactly the same as the plans for the events in England. It is regrettable to suggest a difference in policy between Scotland and England as the organisers decided that the plan devised for Scotland should apply to the whole UK.
